Industrial relations in Africa

The African continent, and in particular the English-speaking African
countries, has witnessed a greater degree of innovation and experimentation in the industrial relations field than any of the other developing
areas. Its efforts to break with colonial models have been far more
pronounced than elsewhere. These efforts have taken various directions
but almost always have involved increasing degrees of government or
public intervention in existing industrial relations institutions (both as
regards procedures, substance and the parties themselves).
